Ethics for Auditors 

Ethics is at the foundation of the accounting and assurance profession, in order for us to have credibility we have to act with integrity and have stakeholders trust.  This foundation is built through understanding the core principles that our Code of Professional Conduct is based on and being aware of the threats we face in doing our work. This course will focus on audit challenges, Risk, NOCLAR with case studies.

Structure of the
course 

This is an Ethics course aimed at auditors, the course will have the following structure:

  • We will explore these concepts by examining case studies and real-world ethical dilemmas encountered by auditors and reviewers. We'll also explore strategies for mitigating and effectively addressing these challenges.
  • Insurance providers bear responsibility to their stakeholders in ensuring their clients adhere to the country's laws, and determining the right time to address the issue with their client.
  • This conversation will prove valuable for individuals across the spectrum of assurance, from newcomers to partners, and it will also be beneficial for your clients. It will help them understand how we assess and deliberate upon the facts and situations we come across.

Meet the instructor

Caryn Maitland 

Caryn Maitland graduated in 1998 from the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg (now UKZN), with a BCom Honours degree in Accounting and completed her articles with KPMG in 2001 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA). She has been a member of IRBA as a registered auditor and accountant since 2002 and is also a registered member of SAICA. Since 2018 Caryn has worked extensively with commerce and industry, assisting analysts, directors and other users of financials to interpret, prepare, analyse and forecast based on the results of financial statements.
